the House

I circle around God, around the primordial tower.
I’ve been circling for thousands of years
and I still don’t know: am I a falcon,
a storm, or a great song?
Rainer Maria Rilke
Widening Circles, Book of Hours, I 2 - x

L’Heure Bleue is a unique location for a retreat. From within a family home with a two hundred year intimate history the house calls for and forth offerings that are small in scale, such as solitary residences, to 1:1 offerings or small group retreats - with an invitation to reimagine what a retreat can be.

The setting is rare, and carries her own particular energy of thresholds. From the house, looking out over the bay gives the impression of being in complete isolation. Yet, on settling and hearing the sound of church bells, becoming enveloped by the smell of burning stoves carried by saline winds, one feels sheltered.

L'Heure Bleue weaves together
Night and Day
Land and Sea
She shelters as she opens
She protects as she reveals
She is a rough pearl in the myriad faces of the sea

Le Crotoy, 1895
